This was done as a final project for my motion graphics class. We were tasked to make a teaser trailer for a film of our choice without any original footage from the film. I chose Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Done with Adobe After Effects and Boujou. Music from the OST. Image of Clementine from the motion picture. Background footage shot with my LX3. In case you’re wondering, the words on her face are quotes from Joel and Clementine in the film. Wanted to try something experimental.

My motion graphics class is having a screening tomorrow (14th April) at the ADM Auditorium at 7pm. See you there!

I thought I had some free time, so I attempted to learn something I’ve always thought was very cool: matchmoving. Turns out a simple matchmove like the one above was quite easy, with Maya Live and a Youtube tutorial at hand. The tough part was making it look seamless when compositing in After Effects. As you can see, I have yet to master that aspect. The live plate was shot using my beloved Panasonic LX3, starring Zhiwei, my cafe shift partner. Ok time to get back to my real work.

I had no experience with After Effects prior to this, and we were desperate to produce a really cool intro video for our ADM freshman orientation camp. With one week left and no one else to ask for help, I went for an After Effects crash course, learning everything online. Managed to complete this in about 3 days. Music is God Put A Smile Upon Your Face by Mark Ronson Feat. The Daptone Horns.

After Effects really rocks man. I had no idea it had 3D features, and automatic motion blur. It’s quite sad I didn’t know how to use it in time to include some nifty special effects in my short film, The Last Date.

If you have any questions regarding how I made this, feel free to drop me an email in the contact section! Also, since now I am able to make motion graphics, I am adding this to my resume! If you need anyone to create a video thats something like this, contact me too!
